YMBARI Bass Pro Shop is forced to garnish your paycheck.
So this weekend was fairly eventful regarding my truck. After looking over my baby, I was informed that it needed about $3000 worth of work. It needed:
- A new alternator
- A new clutch and compressor assembly for the AC
- A new computer (yes, my luck with computers now extends to my truck where I set that one on fire)
- Replacing all the AC shit under the dash where it leaks.
Fortunately, none of these were immediately required at the time. Fast forward to Sunday, and on my way to Chris' house for puppy/people outside day my AC compressor started making noises like two metal bars were whanging on each other. Very disconcerting, especially since I could see a puff of metal shavings erupt from the clutch at every whang.
I took my truck in on Monday (yesterday) and dropped it off for them to fix. Many wonderful things happened, and one bad thing happened. Bad thing is that I dropped $600 on my truck. Again. The good things that happened were:
- The AC clutch replacement turned out to be $300 less than expected. They were pleasantly surprised when they got into it that only the clutch needed replacing.
- They found that the alternator didn't need to be replaced. The AC compressor clutch was so loud htat it sounded like the alternator was going out too.
- The replacement computer may not be the $700 they initially told me. I might be able to visit a junkyard and get one there MUCH cheaper. Then it would only be $90 for the programming and installation of it.
Last night was a Magic draft that Brian has been itching to do. Melissa graciously agreed to be our fourth since Chris had to work. She didn't like the format nearly as much as Brian does, but I suspected that. She hasn't gotten bored enough with constructed yet to require the quirky decks you can get in draft. Anyway, she and Jamie's match went REAL long, but in the end she beat him.
Ok, lunch beckons.
